I believe that meaningful change begins with feeling seen, understood, and accepted. My approach to therapy is grounded in compassion, curiosity, and a genuine commitment to meeting each client where they are. Together, we work toward reducing suffering, strengthening relationships, and creating a greater sense of connection and well-being.
As an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, I bring a diverse range of clinical experience to my work with individuals, couples, and families. I have served as a primary therapist in public outpatient mental health, supporting clients experiencing serious and persistent mental health challenges. I have also worked in inpatient addiction treatment and as a trauma therapist with active-duty military personnel and military veterans, utilizing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
My experience includes working with couples navigating relational conflict, communication difficulties, and disconnection. I draw from the Gottman Method, Attachment-based therapy, and Emotionally Focused Therapy to help partners better understand one another, build emotional safety, and develop healthier patterns of connection. I also enjoy working with families and adolescents, helping them navigate developmental transitions, emotional challenges, family dynamics, and the complexities of relationships.
My therapeutic approach is client-centered and informed by mindfulness and present-moment awareness, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, and Emotionally Focused approaches. I believe that our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships are interconnected, and that developing greater awareness and self-compassion can open the door to meaningful change. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I strive to create a space where clients feel safe enough to explore difficult experiences, discover new perspectives, and move toward the lives and relationships they value.
Outside of my professional work, I am married and a father of two children. My own experiences in marriage and parenthood have deepened my appreciation for the joys and challenges of family life and the importance of connection, understanding, and emotional presence.
I hold a Bachelor of Science from Virginia Tech and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from National University. As an associate clinician, I am committed to ongoing learning, personal growth, and providing thoughtful, compassionate care to each person and family I have the privilege of working with.
