Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion that everyone experiences. However, when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems with interpersonal relationships and the overall quality of your life. Anger and destructive behavior often leave you feeling as though you are powerless to this unpredictable and powerful emotion.

The goal of anger management is to reduce both your emotions and the physiological arousal that anger causes. You cannot get rid of, or avoid, the things or the people that enrage you, nor can you change them, but you can learn to control your thoughts, feelings, and reactions to people and situations.

At Healthy Connections Center we utilize an eclectic treatment approach, utilizing cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) to change behavior by identifying the thought processes and beliefs that contribute to it. Supportive therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) are used to enhance mindfulness, interpersonal relationships, and coping skills.
