Dr. Whelan is an experienced clinical psychologist who provides assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to adult and adolescent patients with an array of psychological, neurological, and medical conditions. Dr. Whelan specializes in neuropsychological assessment and the treatment of depression and anxiety related disorders. She has expertise in the treatment of chronic pain, sleep and eating disorders, substance abuse, grief, trauma, and bipolar spectrum conditions. Dr. Whelan provides comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations in the following areas: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), memory impairment, dementia, traumatic brain injury/concussion (TBI), bariatric surgery candidacy, worker’s compensation exams, organ transplant candidacy, aging baselines, diagnostic assessment of mental health conditions, personality disorders, intellectual disabilities, learning disorders, and other cognitive and neurodevelopmental conditions.

Dr. Whelan provides individualized, evidence-based psychotherapy involving a blend of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical-behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindful self-compassion (MSC). She helps her patients develop skills to effectively regulate distressing thoughts and emotions, recognize self-worth and unique abilities, and build resilience in the face of life’s inevitable challenges.
